Collection: Each two-week International mission is supplied with 40,000 pairs of glasses. With 20 missions scheduled for 2008, we will need to recycle 1.2 million pairs. There are two ways you can help us accomplish our goal:
- In-store: Used glasses, recycled for distribution on International Missions, can be dropped off at any Luxottica Retail store or participating independent practitioner throughout the year. Collection boxes are available at LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Target Optical, Sears Optical and Sunglass Hut stores or participating doctor’s office nationwide.Locate a LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical, or Sunglass Hut now.
- Sight Night: Each year on Halloween, what we call “Sight Night,” individual kids, scout troops, school groups or other youth organizations haunt their neighbors for used eyewear during trick-or-treat. On Sight Night, volunteers collect used prescription eyeglasses or non-prescription sunglasses. Give the Gift of Sight hosts Sight Night in conjunction with Lions Clubs International. Recycling: Eyewear distributed on Give the Gift of Sight international missions are collected in Luxottica Retail stores, through Lions clubs and community organizations. This eyewear is then recycled by Luxottica employees and logged into a computer inventory management system, which gives volunteers greater accuracy and efficiency in distribution.
